Montgomery named editorial grants specialist

Melody Montgomery — who has worked in labs as a researcher and also a technical writer — has been named UNMC’s new editorial grants specialist.

In her new role, Montgomery takes the reigns of the Research Editorial Office.

“This position is a nice fit for me in that it allows me to combine my passions for writing and science,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery will provide expert editorial assistance with proposal development and editing. Support services include:

• Copy editing for grammar, style, consistency and word choice;
  
• Formatting to agency guidelines; and
  
• Commentary on content and flow of the proposal.

She also will hold regular workshops to help UNMC researchers write better grant proposals (see sidebar).
