Spirit Week 2011 – Invasion of the ugly sweaters!

Why yes, that was a blinking red light on the nose of that reindeer on your coworker’s sweater this morning.

Resistance will be futile today as the ugly sweaters invade the UNMC campus.

He probably hopes Rudolph’s glowing bulb will draw the attention of prize givers during today’s Spirit Week Ugly Sweater Contest, which takes place at noon in the Scott Student Plaza Ice Rink.

During the contest five ugly sweater wearers will receive prizes.

Skate Scott free!

The contest runs in correlation with a free skating session for employees from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Employees get free admission to the rink and can rent skates for $3.

At the event, employees and students can:

Get a free cup of hot cocoa;
Buy lunch from Qdoba, which will be in the Sorrell Center commons (Cash only. See a menu.); and
Pick up some UNMC gear at the UNMC Bookstore booth in the Sorrell Center commons.

Stick it to win it and broomball on Thursday

On Thursday, campus parking will be on the lookout for cars with the UNMC window cling on display. If you have a cling on your car, check your car for a “ticket” and win a prize.

Also, the second annual Spirit Week Student Broomball Tournament gets underway at 2 p.m. at the ice rink. Student teams will once again wage icy battles for the “Golden Broom.” Come out and cheer for your favorite team!
