Dr. McClurg to chair board of regents

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents elected Jim McClurg, Ph.D., a UNMC alumnus and former medical center instructor, as chairman for 2012.

Dr. McClurg, of Lincoln, represents District 5 and was appointed to the Board in 2002. He was elected to the Board in 2006 and served as chairman that year. He served as vice chairman in 2011.

Dr. McClurg is president of Technical Development Resources Co. and formerly served as President and CEO of Harris Life Sciences in Lincoln.

He serves on the Nebraska Technology Development Corp., the NU Foundation Board of Trustees and the UNeMeD Corp. Board of Directors, and is a former member of the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education.

Dr. McClurg earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from UNMC and has been an instructor in biochemistry and gynecology and obstetrics at the medical center.

Regent Tim Clare of Lincoln, who represents District 1, was elected vice chairman for 2012.
