What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

From my first day, I wanted to do something to contribute to the LiveGreen initiative on campus. Being a volunteer on a LiveGreen committee has been very rewarding. I have met incredible people who are equally passionate about reducing waste and raising awareness about our impact on our community and the world.

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

The value that comes to mind is working together. I work in an incredible clinic with amazing doctors and a compassionate staff. Everyone in the clinic relies on one another to put the patient first. It is gratifying to take a patient to the diagnostic center or walk them to find their next destination. I get a more time to spend with a patient on a more personal level.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I am married with three children. My oldest daughter is a sophomore at SAIC in Chicago, my other daughter is a senior at Central High School and my son is a seventh-grader at King Science and Technology Magnet.
  • I received my master’s degree at UNL. My thesis focused on the molecular systematics of a tribe of South American fish. I spent most of my time building phylogenies, but fishing in Patagonia was a great break from the lab bench.
  • I am learning to play the bass guitar. Everyone else in my family plays an instrument so why not start a Partridge Family-style band?
