Food drive moves into the second week

Ten days remain in the campus food drive and several reports of empty barrels have filtered through the grapevine.

The campus food drive ends on Friday, May 4.

UNMC moved its annual food drive to the spring as that is the greatest time of need at the Food Bank of the Heartland.

You can drop your donated food items in blue barrels at the following spots on campus:

  • College of Public Health
  • 4230 Building
  • Munroe-Meyer Institute
  • Durham Research Center Atrium
  • Center for Healthy Living — second floor
  • Sorrell Center.

According to the Food Bank, food items always in demand include:

  • Macaroni and cheese;
  • Peanut butter;
  • Canned meats;
  • Canned fruit; and
  • Green beans.
