The campus community is invited to a Wednesday retirement tea to celebrate the career of Charles Murrin, Ph.D., a professor of pharmacology and experimental neuroscience.

Dr. Murrin will retire in July after 34 years at UNMC. His tea runs from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Maurer Commons Area between the Durham Research Center towers.

Dr. Murrin’s research has focused on neurotransmitter systems, particularly the development of catecholamine neuronal pathways and, more recently, on systems involved in the actions of opioid drugs.

These efforts have resulted in more than 100 research publications and book chapters. He also taught medical, pharmacy, allied health, nursing and graduate students throughout his career

Charlie has had an outstanding research career. He has the ability to take complex things and make them understandable. A veteran Omaha World-Herald reporter, who recently interviewed Charlie on his brain research, said it was one of his all-time favorite interviews. Enjoy your retirement, Chaz, and hope you can spend more time chasing that little white ball. Let me know if you need any putting tips. 🙂
