Back in February 2012, the local phone providers started to require us to dial 10-digits for all local calls.
However, forget the “1” on these local calls.
If you dial “1” for local calls, they become long-distance calls and come with the related charges.
Use your Google Voice account, any call is free in the US to regular phones – even if you call from abroad using the iOS app and a WiFi connection, for example. You can forget the "1" completely.
What are you to do if the call won't go through unless you dial a "1" even if you know it is a local call. This happens every so often.
Is there a way to read the comments without having to sign up for Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc. There should be a way to easily scroll down to read comments. When I read an article in the New York Times for example or the Omaha World Herald one can read comments immediately after the article. Please advise as other co-workers would also appreciate knowing this.
Hello Mary – When you get that message telling you to dial a "1" even through it's a local call, please call the help desk at 9-7700 and give them the number you were dialing, the time you tried to make that call, and the telecom team will track down why that message is playing.
