Goldsteins donate $100,000 to support transplant research

Leonard and Shirley Goldstein recently made a $100,000 gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation to support transplantation research. Their daughter-in-law, Ann Goldstein, received a kidney transplant in 2002. The Goldsteins said the donation was a gesture of appreciation for the physicians who “gave Ann back to us.”

Dr. Kirkegaard receives College of Pharmacy award

Scott Kirkegaard, Pharm.D., has been selected as the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy 2004 Preceptor of the Year. Dr. Kirkegaard, a clinical pharmacist at the Hastings Regional Center in Hastings, Neb., was selected for the award by a vote of the graduating senior class. This is the third time he has received the award.

On May 4, Prevent Blindess Nebraska formally presented the Maurers with its 2004 People of Vision Award for their outstanding achievements in making the Omaha community a better place to live. MMI to hold June 3 golf tournament to raise funds

The C. Louis Meyer Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. invites the public to participate in its Tee-Up for Disabilities Golf Tournament June 3 at the Tregaron Golf Course in Bellevue. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Adult Recreational Therapy Program at UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute.

Public receptions have been scheduled at the University of Nebraska at Omaha for all four candidates for president of the University of Nebraska.
