Relationship with NAP benefits UNMC, patients with HIV/AIDS
UNMC’s strong relationship with the Nebraska AIDS Project (NAP) is important to the university in several ways, the medical director of the UNMC HIV Clinic says. NAP is the beneficiary of the annual “Night of a Thousand Stars” celebration. This year’s 11th annual celebration will take place on Dec. 6. UNMC/Hot 107.7 radio co-sponsored children’s event
On Halloween night, UNMC and radio station Hot 107.7 co-sponsored – Trick or Trunk – a candy giveaway that drew more than 2,000 children and parents to the Baker’s Place parking lot at 51st Street and Ames Avenue. This was the first time for such an event in North Omaha.

Employees have time to return SimplyWell sign-up cards
The data obtained from the health screenings of a new campus wellness program will help to guide future employee wellness efforts, says Jayme Nekuda, UNMC’s manager of health promotion. The SimplyWell program is free to UNMC employees who participate in UNMC’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield medical insurance plan. Employees may still enroll by returning their sign-up cards to the SimplyWell office.

Amid the tricks of Halloween came a big treat for pediatric cancer patients and families at The Nebraska Medical Center. AFLAC presented the hospital with a $45,000 gift to help kids and their families get through a truly scary time in their lives.

UNMC hosts appreciation lunch for high school principals
In 2001, UNMC’s Office of Student Equity and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA) inaugurated an appreciation lunch for the principals of schools that send six or more graduates to the incoming fall class. This year, 20 schools met this qualification.
