Core Facility Day on Tuesday — How can shared resources help you?

Survey responses about UNMC’s core facility use show that many campus investigators aren’t aware of the full breadth of the medical center’s shared resources and how they can help advance campus research.

Attend Core Facility Day on Tuesday to see how UNMC’s shared resources can help advance your research.
To help raise awareness, the campus community is invited to attend Core Facilities Day on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the interaction space between the Durham Research Center towers.

“We have more than 30 core facilities along with many other resources available to help campus researchers,” said Paula Turpen, Ph.D., director of research resources. “This event is designed to let investigators know about the various resources and services available on campus to help them advance their work.”

Shared resources

Core facilities, sometimes called shared resources, provide sophisticated, expensive technology and expertise that no single lab would have the financial resources to purchase and learn.

These fee-for-service resources give investigators access to technologies, services and scientific consultation at a reasonable cost.

Representatives from many of the campus core facilities and other campus research resource groups will be on hand to discuss their services and functions and refreshments will be served.
