  • Name: Kim Strohbehn
  • Hometown: Council Bluffs, Iowa
  • No. of years at UNMC: 23

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

I’ve worked with great people, worked on great projects and had the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Many of the people I work with today were also here when I started, so we’ve seen kids grow up, graduate, get married and now … grand kids! In many ways, we are family, and what better memory can you have at a work place than that?

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

As I look at the building growth for UNMC and its health care partners, I’d have to say “working together.” ITS is involved in the planning, deployment and support of the voice, video and networking infrastructure in each building, which requires nearly every team in ITS to work together to get the job done. Way to go team!

List three things people may not know about you.

  • When I was in high school, I loved to ride horses and competed in barrel racing and pole bending at local rodeos. I have since exchanged this kind of riding for another (see next response).
  • I am a full-fledged motorcycle mama riding my own Honda VTX 1300 and enjoying every moment of the open road. No more fender fluff for me.(Fender fluff is motorcycle lingo for the female passenger and doesn’t refer to the size of my waist!)
  • I’m a Christian and hopefully not an undercover one!
