Thank You Notes
Thank you notes to scholarship donors are very meaningful, and can play an integral part of the fundraising efforts by the University of Nebraska Foundation. All thank you notes are documented, and a copy is maintained in your student file.
The Office of Financial Aid requires you to acknowledge the receipt of your scholarship with a thank you note to the donors. A checklist item will be added to your To Do List on MyRecords and will not be removed until the thank you note is received by the scholarship coordinator.
Thank you notes should be written for all scholarships, including the Regent, Legacy, Non-Resident Tuition scholarships and Tuition Waivers.
A thank you note must be prepared for EACH scholarship received. Multiple awards may not be acknowledged in one letter.
Failure to acknowledge your scholarship may jeopardize student's eligibility for future scholarship awards.
More About Thank You Notes
Please address your scholarship thank you note specifically to the donor. In many instance, you will need to create more than one thank you note. Each donor should be acknowledged separately. Use this document to find your scholarship award and the name of the addressee for your thank you note. If your scholarship is not listed, please contact the Office of Financial Aid. If the donor addressee is listed as "Scholarship Donors," please address your thank you note in that fashion.
- Thank you notes should be typewritten and personally signed on an 8 ½” x 11” sheet of paper.
- Please include your name and address information at the top of the thank you note.
- Do not submit a Thank you notecard.
- Should you receive more than one scholarship, submit all thank you notes in one envelope.
- Thank you notes must be received by August 1, or 30 days after the award is made.
-
Do not submit your thank you note through Sharepoint. Please send it as a PDF or Word document attachment to your email.
As the Office of Financial Aid is currently working in a remote environment, we encourage you to send your thank you notes via email. This will allow us to process them timely and efficiently and forward them to the donors.
All notes must be signed prior to being forwarded. We cannot accept photos taken from cell phones, as they do not transfer correctly to our email system.
Due to the high volume of awards, we cannot acknowledge each submission individually. Once the thank you note requirement has been removed from your To Do list in MyRecords, you can be assured that the item has been completed and the note processed.
We suggest the following information be included in your typewritten note:
- Name, program, class year, hometown and high school
- Name of the scholarship received
- Personal and/or professional activities and hobbies
- Future academic and career plans
- Information about your UNMC experience and the impact it has had thus far
- Thank the donor for their support of UNMC and explain how this scholarship is helping you
Please send your thank you notes to:
finaid@unmc.edu, Attn: Scholarship Coordinator
Please allow 2 working days for the item to be removed from your MyRecords To Do list.
