United Way, Day Two: Sandy’s story

United Way of the Midlands proudly funds 134 health and human service programs that help those in need across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties.

The services provided by United Way of the Midlands partner agencies include: basic needs, employment, housing and income, health, mental health, safety, volunteers and disaster, senior recreation, sexual assault and domestic violence, youth mentoring and parent education, youth recreation, and youth resources.












The running total



As of 3 p.m. Monday, UNMC achieved:

  • Donations of $30,465, nearly 20 percent of the campaign goal of $156,000.
  • Employee participation of nine percent. Last year, there was 42 percent participation — that should be an easy number to break. Remember, using the UNMC eServ website to choose not to donate counts as participation!





Today, we meet Sandy, a struggling mother escaping an abusive relationship who turned to Catholic Charities for help.

Community strong

For the ninth straight year, UNMC employees can pledge online through an efficient, secure system now. Click on this UNMC eServ (formerly ESS) password. Paper pledge cards are available as well.

A "no-pledge" option is available online for employees who choose not to donate. If you're unable to contribute, you still are encouraged to access the website and submit the "no donation" response to be eligible for the prize drawings.

Employees can contribute to a host of United Way-supported area organizations or can contribute directly to the campaign, which helps support hundreds of health and human service programs across the Omaha-Council Bluffs-Bellevue area.

Pledge by 4 p.m Friday to be eligible for the first weekly prize drawing, which will be held each Friday during the campaign. Among the prizes available during this year's drawings are tickets to three Nebraska football games.
